The certificate is not issued with an expiry date as a language qualification. The deadline that does exist is on replacement: a lost certificate can only be replaced within 2 years of the exam, and after that window there is no replacement at all. Scan it the day you collect it.
No. The Conservatória checks one thing: whether you hold a document proving A2 Portuguese. A certificate at 56% and a certificate at 96% satisfy that identically. There is no bonus, no faster processing and no note on your file. If you passed, you are done.
SEF, Portugal's immigration and border service, was dissolved in 2023. AIMA, the Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo, took over its civilian functions including residence permits and citizenship processing, while border and enforcement work went to the PSP and GNR. A2 on the Common European Framework of Reference, the elementary level. It is set out in the Portuguese Nationality Law and its implementing regulations, and it applies to most adult applicants. A CIPLE certificate at A2 from CAPLE, or an A2 course certificate from a DGERT-certified PLA provider. Those two are the reliable options. Portuguese school certificates, certificates from Portuguese-language schools abroad, and degrees taught in Portuguese can also work, but are assessed case by case.
