Frequently Asked Questions
What is a PLA course and how is it different from the CIPLE exam?
PLA (Portugues Lingua de Acolhimento) is a structured course pathway to A2 certification, as an alternative to the CIPLE exam. Instead of a single high-stakes test, you complete a course with ongoing assessment. Both pathways produce certificates accepted by AIMA for citizenship.
Is the A2 certificate from a PLA course accepted for Portuguese citizenship?
Yes. A2 certificates from DGERT-certified PLA courses are accepted by AIMA and the Conservatoria for citizenship and permanent residency applications, just like CIPLE certificates.
How long does the course take?
The course is designed to be completed in 8-12 weeks. You'll have access to all video materials 24/7 alongside weekly live practice sessions.
Do I need any Portuguese knowledge before starting?
Some basic familiarity helps, but the course is designed for the A1-to-A2 transition. If you can handle basic greetings and simple phrases, you're ready to start.
What if I can't attend the live practice sessions?
We offer multiple time slots each week specifically to accommodate different work schedules. If you miss a session, you can attend a different slot that same week.
What is the difference between CIPLE and PLA?
CIPLE is a single exam administered by CAPLE that tests your Portuguese level. PLA (Portugues Lingua de Acolhimento) is a structured course with ongoing assessment. Both produce A2 certificates accepted for citizenship, but PLA offers a more gradual, lower-pressure path to certification.
Are you an accredited institution?
We partner with a DGERT-certified PLA delivery organization to provide official A2 certification. The certificate is issued by our certified partner and is recognized by AIMA and the Conservatoria.
How much does the course cost?
The Standard plan is €19/week and the Premium plan is €49/week. You pay weekly for as long as you are enrolled — no large upfront payment. Most students complete in 28-36 weeks.
What do I need to do to get my certificate?
You must complete the full 150-hour curriculum and attend the weekly live sessions. Proof of attendance is tracked through our platform. Once you have completed all requirements, your A2 certificate is issued by our DGERT-certified partner.
Can I take the course from outside Portugal?
The course is fully online, so you can access the video lectures from anywhere. However, the A2 certification is specifically designed for people pursuing Portuguese citizenship or residency.
What technology do I need?
A computer or smartphone with internet access and a webcam/microphone for the live practice sessions. All video content is mobile-friendly and streams in standard definition to work with slower connections.
