Why can I not find any CIPLE exam slots on the portal?

Because the portal is genuinely unreliable, not because you are doing it wrong. Its search does not always return existing sessions, availability appears and disappears between visits, and some centres open registration for only a few days. Contacting exam centres directly is the workaround that actually produces bookings.

This is not your internet connection

If you have selected CIPLE at A2, picked your country and city, clicked search, and got nothing or an error, you are not alone and you are not doing anything wrong.

Four failure modes come up repeatedly:

The search is unreliable. It returns no sessions even when sessions exist, and sometimes fails outright with an error.

Sessions appear and disappear. A Lisbon session visible on Monday is gone on Tuesday and back on Wednesday. It is unclear how much of this is genuine filling and cancellation and how much is the portal displaying availability incorrectly. It appears to be both.

Registration windows are narrow. A session can be on the calendar while registration is open for only a few days. Check outside that window and you see "closed" and reasonably conclude it is full.

There is no single source of truth. Each centre manages its own availability, and some publish information that conflicts with the portal.

What to do instead

Contact centres directly. Find contact details for centres in your region from CAPLE's list and email or phone them. This is the tactic that works.
Check the portal repeatedly, at different times. New availability appears without announcement.
Widen your geography. A session in another city that you can actually book beats a session in your city that you cannot.
Start early. In Lisbon and Porto, sessions can fill within hours of opening.

Why this matters more than an inconvenience

For many people the CIPLE is a requirement for citizenship. Not being able to register means a stalled application, which can affect residency, family reunification and work. It is reasonable to treat finding a slot as a real project rather than an administrative afterthought.

If the registration system is the thing blocking you, the PLA course route sidesteps it entirely.

How do I register for the CIPLE exam?

Through CAPLE's online portal or directly with an authorised exam centre, depending on the centre. Find a centre, check its session calendar, register, and pay the fee. In practice the portal is unreliable, so contacting centres directly by phone or email is usually the faster route to an actual booking.

Can I take the CIPLE exam outside Portugal?

Yes. CAPLE delivers the CIPLE through a network of authorised centres, roughly 100 of them across about 35 countries, so you do not need to be in Portugal to sit it. Availability varies a lot by country, and your certificate is collected from the centre where you sat the exam.

How do I get my CIPLE certificate after passing?

CAPLE issues it roughly 21 working days after results are published and ships it to the centre where you sat the exam. You collect it there in person and sign a receipt declaration. Some centres will post it if you supply a registered envelope, but many will not, so ask yours.
